Camp NaNoWriMo =)
That's right! National Novel Writing Month in the summer!! Although it doesn't make much sense... If it's National doesn't it have to be in the same month every year? Well I guess it's called CAMP National Novel Writing Month. Just can't forget the Camp =) This time you get 31 days. This is the first year that I started the actual writing process on the 1. The other years I've had a sort of beginning. This year I started everything on the actual day! I spent all day yesterday forming plots and characters and stuff in my mind. And at 11:30 last night I couldn't just sit and wait anymore so I wrote all of my thoughts down on paper. I decided 31 days, 31 doors. Let me explain =)
Oneida Hartel was just dropped off at an orphanage (as of 12:30 last night) and she is going to discover a big empty closet (she doesn't know it yet)and at the end of that closet is a door that only she can see (because she holds the key) and through that door is a hall of other doors. Behind each of those doors is a new world. I'm playing with the idea of making each door a different color. But since I have 31 days Oneida is going to discover 31 different worlds.
Door #1 - (if I decide to do colors) The color of the sky
Behind this door is every 7-year old's dream.
And the first pep talk of the month just totally made my noveling worth it. It basically explains why I embark on this month long crazy endeavor. So I must share it.
Congratulations! You’ve committed to doing something very important: You're going to write a novel. From scratch. Smack dab in the middle of your crazy life!
Never mind the fact that you’re also going to have a ton of fun doing it. For now, let’s just focus on the good-deedyness of your decision, shall we?
You’re making time to create something. And not just any old thing... you're creating one of the most valuable, treasured, and lasting gifts of the human mind!
Usually this type of creatively ambitious endeavor falls to the very bottom of life's to-do list, well below things like “groom the dog” and “empty the gutters.” There are a million and one distractions and excuses to keep you from leaping with abandon into a brain- and soul-satisfying project like this one.
But you have set those excuses aside and made your novel a priority.
You’ll spend one month pouring forth the story that’s currently rattling around inside your mind. You’ll build a world, and meet people, and witness events that did not exist before. And at the end, you’ll have the rough draft of a novel to show for it.
Well done, indeed. Hats off to you!
In the month ahead, there may be moments that you doubt yourself or the story you are writing, and start to think that it makes the most sense to just quit. If that happens, I want you to open your inbox, reread this message, and reaffirm how amazing you are for carving this time out of your life to write.
Remember: The world needs your novel!

Yesterday I told Tommy that this was a thrill ride and he asked what a thrill ride was. I told him a ride full of thrills. So creative =)
As for my pictures... I have the trees. I still need to convince my family to sit down for a family picture. And we still have no citrus in this house. I think that's all I'm missing. But as soon as I get them, they will be here =)
